Uvod:
Pískomilí miminka jsou sice roztomilá a samozřejmě je také velmi zábavné,když je můžete pozorovat.Hlavně pro děti je to ohromný zážitek,mohou-li sledovat,jak mládata rostou a vyvíjejí se.Mějte však na paměti ,že toto potěšení má jen krátké trvání a z roztomilých mládátek se rychle stanou dospělí jedinci.Matka může být ještě týž den,kdy porodila zase oplodněna ! Mělo by sice platit,že si pískomilové většinou sami od sebe regulují velikost skupiny s ohledem na prostor ,který mají k dispozici ,na to se však nemůžete spoléhat.V důsledku domestikace ztratili své přirozené instinkty a může se stát ,že samička bude neustále březí a akvárium bude brzy "přetékat" malými pískomily.Nechcete-li,aby se váš byt proměnil v jedno velké akvárium,měli by jste včas začít s plánovaným rodičovstvím,To znamená ,že pískomily rozdělíte podle pohlaví.

Rozmnožování pískomilů :
Pokud však budete chtítchovat pískomily podle barevných rázů ,měli byste se ještě věnovat podrobněji studiu genetiky/nauky o dědičnosti a informovat se u ostatních chovatelů.Rozmnožování umožněte jen zdravým zvířatům! Mějte na paměti ,že jste za potomstvozodpovědní a že budete muset pro všechny mládata najít vhodné umístění,což není vůbec jednoduché!
Páření a porod:
Pískomilové žijí zpravidla monogamně.V rámci jedné příbuzenské skupiny se o potomstvo stará většinou jen jedna samička.Pokud jev říji i některá z jejích dcer,může mezi nimi docházet k vážným rozbrojům.Když tato "šéfka" zemře,nastoupí na její místo dcera.Tím je zajištěna kontunuita rodu.
